European Larch Tree

A quick growing tree capable of reaching 130ft 40m. On the continent the larch is a mountian species adapted to long winters and short growing seasons In Britain it has a longer growing season and grows quickly in dry areas. It can be vulnerable to late spring frosts and is susceptible to larch canker. Being deciduous it is often treated as a quothonorary broadleafquot to provide diversity in conifer plantations. The rot resistant heartwood makes the timber a popular source of fencing material as well as light furniture timber.
